Medicare open enrollment starts Oct. 15 and lasts until Dec. 7.

During this time, Medicare beneficiaries can compare their plans and make changes. They have seven weeks to make any changes. Coverage will begin Jan. 1

Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program staffers are also available to help over the phone or in person in Gaston County. They will provide information for free on Medicare drug coverage, long-term care insurance and other issues.
