The 2016 election is over. Jeremy Durham is no longer in the legislature. The Republicans have maintained their supermajority hold over both legislative chambers.

Lawmakers can now legislate without the cloud of campaigning or an ousted member’s scandal over them.

There is no need to incite anyone’s base and no need to posture — and with the GOP soon in charge of both Congress and the White House, no Barack Obama to be a bogeyman.
