At the beginning of every year, we often think about ways to improve our lives by setting goals for the New Year.  Senior citizens are no exception.

Back in 2009, the American Occupational Association rolled out an initiative called Older Driver Safety Awareness Week in an effort to promote safe driving for our elderly population. This week, the AOTA is working hard to promote safe driving for our seniors through a week long campaign.

Halloween is just around the corner and it is certainly a fun time for kids, families and even our older Americans.  There is always something special about Halloween night when everyone enjoys getting in on all of the fun.  Nobody wants to miss out on seeing the frightening costumes that children are wearing from skeletons, to witches to Frankenstein, but seniors need to be vigilant and smart during the evening.

Starting October 15^th, many senior citizens will have the opportunity to make changes to their Medicare plan.  Will you be one of them?  If not, why? The Medicare Open Enrollment period will begin October 15^th and end December 7^th.  Every year during this time, Medicare beneficiaries have the chance to review their Medicare coverage, premium and deductible and make significant changes if necessary.  This could be the perfect time to find out if you can save a little money.

Who says senior citizens can't keep up in the fast paced tech world we live in?  Apparently, our older Americans have decided to get tech savvy or get left behind.  In a recent Pew Research Center study published in McKnight's Senior Living, a majority of senior citizens are now getting their news from social media. 

In one of our recent blog posts, we wrote about the Equifax data breach that affected millions of seniors  and as you would imagine, our aging population is extremely concerned about their security.

With the recent data breach at Equifax, we are reminded how important it is to always take extra care of our sensitive information.

During this time of year, we have the opportunity to enjoy the cooler temperatures outdoors, cooking out, watching football games and parades. With the pleasant weather conditions, we also have to prepare for the brutal hurricane season.
