Florida Blue Center offers program to help seniors learn how to use technology to combat loneliness

The Florida Blue Center in Winter Park Village is offering a free four-week program for seniors to help them learn how to use technology and social media to combat loneliness, stay informed and live a healthy lifestyle.

The program is open to anyone over the age of 50.

Classes are held on Mondays at 434 N. Orlando Ave., Winter Park, at 10 a.m., starting on July 23 and ending on August 13.

Here’s more about each class:

  • July 23 – Journey through a World of Technology – This class will give an overview of the world of technology and provide a basic understanding of the simple terms often used with it.
  • July 30 – Opening the Internet Window – This class opens the window to a world of information, images and videos.
  • August 6 – In Touch with Loved Ones – This class will teach how to use smart phones and tablets to stay in touch with loved ones regardless of distance.
  • August 13 – Wellness Management – The final week will showcase how technology can help maintain and improve your health by aiding in making appointments, ordering prescriptions, learning exercise routines and finding nutrition tips.
