Seniors often experience loneliness this time of year & just being a friend can make a difference

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - For many people, the Holiday Season is the most wonderful time of the year but for some seniors, it can be the loneliest time of the year.

Depression among our senior citizens is very common,” said Sharon Baker with Capitol Hill Healthcare. “Most of the depression we see is because of a decline in medical condition or a medical diagnosis."

Capitol Hill Healthcare is a long-term care and short-term rehab center in Montgomery. Administrators say many seniors who live in care centers can feel alone. Some don't have any family nearby, others are dealing with illnesses of financial worries.
