Hundreds of food boxes were given away to senior citizens in Jackson.

That program helps seniors living in Mississippi’s Capital City.

Six hundred boxes of food were handed out to seniors Monday morning.

“Vegetables, meats, fruit, juice and different things for the nourishment of our bodies,” said Annie Gates, a participant.

Gates says she’s been coming to the Jackson Revival Center to get food for the past three years.

With the food she gets here, she says she can use her money from her Social Security check to get other household goods.

“That’s money I can use for that, instead of trying to get a little something to eat,” said Gates.
