New study suggests that aerobic exercise can guard against dementia

Your weekly step class could help guard against dementia, a new study suggests.

Researchers at Wake Forest School of Medicine had 35 people with mild cognitive impairment perform aerobic or stretching exercises for six months. They then performed an MRI of both groups and found that those who did aerobic exercises had a bigger increase in “gray matter” in their brains, which supports short-term memory.
